Hello everyone!!! Welcome to my new blog. This is all new for me, but I plan to use this blog to show what it is like to be a speech therapist. I will post about my experiences, offer guidance and share resources. I hope you have your seat belt on (it's the law), because it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
The first thing I would like to share, is my cousin Gabe.
Gabe has been an inspiration in my life. Gabe is three years younger than me and I have had a fascination with him ever since he was born. You see, Gabe was born with Down Syndrome.
Now some people might think, "that's cool" or "he's cute" or any other thought you might have. But nobody would be able to understand what Gabe has done for me personally in my life.
He is the source of happiness within my family. You will rarely see Gabe without a smile on his face (maybe when I tease him about being a Yankees fan). But his spirit is strong and it is what makes me strong.
I have always known that Gabe speaks differently than most people, he is difficult to understand at times and it has always been my goal to try to understand my cousin. It is this relationship that has led me down the path to become a Speech-Language Pathologist.
So today I tip my cap to my cousin Gabe. Thank you for being you buddy! Love you!
